# Financial Cash Flows Examples

This calculator focuses on financial cash flow calculations for

• IRR, internal rate of return.
• NPV, net present value.
• NFV, net future value.
• MIRR, modified internal rate of return.

The List Manager can be used to add, edit, delete or change the order of the cash flows.

If using the Cash Flows PYR calculator, set PYR = 1 for these examples.

If entering monthly cash flows, store 12 for PYR to calculate annual rates.

## IRR Example

Calculate the IRR for the following cash flow:

Year Cash Flow
0 -4000
1 1200
2 1410
3 1875
4 1050

Note that older versions of this calculator require you to tap = before CF0 in ALG mode. Please Download the current version of this calculator.

Value Keystrokes Display Description
shift + clr f   Clears the financial list. Also the i% and rr values for NPV and MIRR.
-4000 CF0 -4,000.00 Stores the CF0 value.
1200 CFj 1,200.00 Stores the CFj value.
1410 CFj 1,410.00 Stores the CFj value.
1875 CFj 1,875.00 Stores the CFj value.
1050 CFj 1,050.00 Stores the CFj value.
IRR 14.30 Calculates the IRR

if you navigate to the List Manager, you should see this list:

Be sure you are viewing the financial "f" list. ## NPV, NFV Example

Calculate the NPV and NFV for the cash flow from the previous example for a rate of 10%.
NFV requires the Cash Flows PYR calculator.

Value Keystrokes Display Description
10 STO i% 10.00 Stores the periodic rate.
1 STO P/YR 1.00 Stores the payments per year. (Cash Flows PYR Calculator only)
NPV 382.08 Calculates the NPV.
NFV 559.40 Calculates the NFV. (Cash Flows PYR Calculator)

If using PYR, store this as an annual rate.

## MIRR Example

Calculate the MIRR for the following cash flow:

Year Cash Flow
0 -1000
1 -4000
2 5000
3 2000

Value Keystrokes Display Description
shift + clr f   Clears the financial list. Also the i% and rr values for NPV and MIRR.
-1000 CF0 -1,000.00 Stores the CF0 value.
-4000 CFj -4,000.00 Stores the CFj value.
5000 CFj 5,000.00 Stores the CFj value.
2000 CFj 2,000.00 Stores the CFj value.
10 STO i% 10.00 Stores the finance rate.
12 STO rr 12.00 Stores the reinvestment rate.
MIRR 17.91 Calculates the MIRR.

## Grouped Cash Flows Example

Calculate the MIRR for the following cash flow:

Year Cash Flow

2 5000
3 2000
4 2000
5 2000

-1000 CF0 -1,000.00 Stores the CF0 value.
-4000 CFj -4,000.00 Stores the CFj value.
5000 CFj 5,000.00 Stores the CFj value.
2000 = or
ENTER
2,000.00 Enters the CFj value.
3 shift + Nj 3.00 Stores the CFj value 3 times.
10 STO i% 10.00 Stores the finance rate.
12 STO rr 12.00 Stores the reinvestment rate.
MIRR 24.33 Calculates the MIRR.
