Display Notation
The Display Notation screen shows the algebraic notation of the game as text. This provides a clear, readable view of the moves that have been recorded.
iPad advantage
On iPad, the notation can be displayed alongside the chessboard while moves are being entered. This allows the board and notation to be visible at the same time.
Some players choose to briefly show this screen to an opponent to help resolve discrepancies with a paper scoresheet.
Notation format
The notation displayed reflects the current notation settings selected in Setup, including:
- Standard or long algebraic notation
- Figurine or letter piece symbols
Sharing notation text
The Share button on the Display Notation screen shares the notation exactly as shown.
This share action provides the notation as plain text only. It does not include:
- PGN files
- Move timing information
- PDF or printed scoresheets
Text sharing is intended for quick reference or communication, not for archival or database import.
